The world has gotten smaller. Plane tickets are cheaper, impermanent lodging (hotels, hostels, airbnbs, etc) has become more affordable, and the internet opens up worlds that were once entirely unknown to outsiders. Societies can easily intermingle, English has become widely used, and we have found an incredible number of ways to “connect” with people. We are “a global community.”

But what does it mean to be a member of this very particular kind of community?

Our generation has given new meaning to the terms “community” and “home,” extending them to mean something much greater than the place we grew up in. Meanwhile, our definitions are not all the same. The posts on this blog explore my own observations and perspectives on transition, building a new community, and finding new homes. I share them with you with the hope that you’ll challenge your own ideas, observations, and experiences. Let’s get inspired together.
